An opportunity to have your say!!
Do you want to help shape the future of Wick and Thurso then why not go along to one of the Charrettes being run by the Highland Council. These dynamic and interactive planning events will help develop a vision and options for future development of both Wick and Thurso as well as the rest of Caithness and Sutherland.
The Wick and Thurso Charrettes will provide an opportunity for local people to share and discuss their views and aspirations for future growth, regeneration and improvements in the two main settlements in the area. Each Charrette will involve a series of interactive workshops where a specialist design team will help to articulate people’s ideas into drawings and generate options for a land use strategy for each town.
These events form the first stage of preparing a new Caithness and Sutherland Local Development Plan (CaS Plan) which will guide development within this area over the next 20 to 30 years. The results of these Charrettes will feed directly into the first consultation document for the CaS Plan known as the Main Issues Report.
The Charrettes were launched in January, attracting a range of representatives from the local community, and there was considerable interest and enthusiasm about the opportunity that the Charrettes provide for local people and the two towns. The Wick Charrette will be taking place at The Assembly Rooms from the 21st to 26th February 2013. The Thurso Charrette is being held at the Pentland Hotel from 22nd to 27th February 2013.
