Lisa Douglas- Ness Factor Q & A

Norscot Joinery have been sponsoring Lisa Douglas, during her time in the Ness factor competition and are delighted that she has made it all the way to the final. Ness factor takes place on October the 27th at Drumossie Hotel Inverness, with all proceeds in aid of Highland Hospice

We took some time to do a quick question and answer with Lisa to give you all some more back ground and insight into why Lisa chose to compete in Ness factor, and what it means to her.

Q- How long have you been singing?
A- I have been singing since ever I can remember. It’s just something I’ve always done, since ever. But, believe it or not, I actually get very nervous beforehand!!
Q- What is your favourite genre of music to sing?
A- Not sure if I have a favourite genre of music, although I am drawn to good Country music. Saying that though, I love a bit of rock too. I don’t really have a favourite artist, but if I had to choose, there would be lots, Dolly Parton, Dixie Chicks, Sugarland, Meatloaf, Queen, Cher, Adele, Amy Winehouse, I could keep going to be honest… 😂
Q- What made you decide to enter the ness factor competition?
A- I decided to enter Ness Factor, as I thought, IF, I got through to final, it would be a new goal for me to challenge myself. I would also be able to raise money for charity.
Q- Have you entered any singing competitions before?
A- I have entered Wick X-factor and Wick Tesco Talent show. I have also had auditions for The X factor & The Voice, but nerves get in the way, eventually!
Q- Do you have a chosen charity, if yes why did you chose this charity and have you raised any money so far?
B- Highland Hospice run this event with all monies raised benefiting them.
So far, I am delighted to have raised £2400, doubling my goal of £1000!!
Any more donations would be gratefully received😁😉via my FB page or can be given to me in person, as I am aware some people are not keen using online for donations.
Q- How have you been practicing for the big day?
A- So, for the last 4 months, I have been travelling the A9, every week, for vocal coaching, from Tony Henry, in Inverness. I have also been given vocal exercises to practice at home daily. I always turn up the music in the car and have a wee sing song/vocal exercise on the way home from work. There has been lots to learn and the experience has been fantastic!
Q- Who has been your biggest supporter(s)?
A- I have been very lucky, obviously Family are my main supporters. My mum has spent many weeks travelling the A9 with me to/from rehearsals in Inverness. I’d also add Patty Coghill from Wick, for organising the busking event last month, in wick, with proceeds from that event going to my fundraising for Highland Hospice. This was my biggest part of fundraiser.

Q- What will you be singing on the night
A- ha-ha…tonight Mathew I’m going to be singing…..😁😁….I’d love to tell you what i will be singing on the night, but, it’s all HUSH HUSH at the moment. I will be stepping out of my comfort zone though, and this song is a BIGGY and I’m sure everyone knows it, so I best do it justice! 😉
Q- What would it mean to you to win?
A- There are 9 contestants, I am the only one from Caithness. If I was to win Ness Factor 2018, obviously I would be absolutely ecstatic, over the moon, on cloud 9, family & friends would never hear the end of it!! How excited would I be on a scale of 1-10?? Eh…11!!!! At the end of the day, this is a competition, and you have to be in it to win it, so to speak, but it’s the Highland Hospice, who are the real winners, and rightfully so. They are a fantastic Charity, and if I can do a little to support them by singing, it’s a good situation to be in. I have made lots of new friendships, the other contestants, vocal coach, hospice staff, sharing lots of fun and laughter, sweat n sore throats along this experience and journey. It has been FAB!! 😁🎶🎤🎶 I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Norscot Joinery, for being my Sponsor, in the run up to this exciting event. I am very grateful for your company’s support also

We want to express our upmost support and wish you all the best in the final Lisa. From all of us here at Norscot, good luck.
