Following on from Ellen’s retirement last week, we’d like to introduce you to our new QHSE Manager, Donnie Sinclair who has been with us for a few weeks now. We found time in his busy work schedule to have a quick (socially-distanced) chat about what attracted him to the role at Norscot as well gaining insight into life outside of the office.
What attracted you to the role at Norscot?
I spent a lot of time during 2020 reflecting on my career to date and thinking about the direction I wanted it to go in going forward. Day to day this role offers me excellent variety. My previous Management roles have included responsibility for Quality and Health & Safety however this role offers me the opportunity to focus on these areas 100% of the time. I enjoy being in a position where I can influence and encourage a positive health and safety culture in the workplace playing a vital role in getting our staff home to their families safely every day.
I have previously had a really positive experience of working within a small family business, when I spoke with our Director Jason Fraser about the company prior to joining I got a similar feeling about the business so this also played a big part in me deciding to join the team here at Norscot.
A little bit about your previous experience in relation to your new role at Norscot.
I have spent the vast majority of my career in the nuclear sector working within Operations Management since 2007. Over the years I have had a lot of involvement in Quality and Health & Safety as well as training delivery which I will also undertake in my new role. These are all areas I enjoy so it’s great to be able to concentrate more on them here at Norscot.
Three words that best describe you.
Helpful, Considerate, Flexible
Interest/Hobbies outside of the workplace.
Myself and my wife Evelyn love to get out into the hills as much as possible so weekends are mostly spent packing a lunch early morning and heading out for long walks. At home I am very keen on vehicle detailing and spend time keeping the family fleet in tip top condition.
Please join us in giving Donnie a warm welcome to the Norscot team.
