In early 2025, Norscot celebrated 30 years of its Inverness showroom—a significant milestone in its mission to become the Highland community’s most reliable supplier of windows, doors, and timber frame kit homes.
Founded in 1984 as Fairmitre (Highland) Ltd and rebranded in 1987 as Norscot Joinery Ltd, the company opened its first Inverness showroom on Canal Road in 1992. In 1995, it moved to purpose-built premises on the Carse Industrial Estate, later doubling its space in 2004 to better serve its growing customer base across the Highlands.

Over the past three decades, the Inverness showroom has been instrumental in the company’s growth. It provides a local hub where customers can explore a diverse range of products, including timber frame kit homes and uPVC, timber, and aluminium-clad timber windows and doors. This presence has nurtured lasting community relationships and contributed significantly to the local economy.
Beyond its business operations, Norscot actively supports Inverness and the surrounding communities through a range of annual initiatives. Its local involvement includes sponsoring the Race to Inverness competition at Inverness Golf Club and maintaining a pitch-side advertising board at Clachnacuddin Football Club—which not only enhances the club’s progress on and off the field but also supports a youth program benefiting more than 170 children.
Additionally, the company sponsors a roundabout near Inshes Retail Park and has supported organisations such as Muir of Ord Golf Club and Team Love Cheer. Its commitment also extends to Highland-based charities—from mental health initiatives like Million Steps for Mikeysline and Move for Movember to partnering with Maggie’s Highlands, its Charity of the Year, through events such as the Paws for a Cause Walking Challenge, Christmas Jumper Day, and the hugely successful Jail or Bail fundraising challenge. It has also supported mental health charity Birchwood Highland.

As Norscot celebrates 30 years in Inverness, it remains dedicated to innovation, quality, and community engagement—and looks forward to many more years of service to the Highland region.
Reflecting on this milestone, Inverness Branch Manager Iain Polworth remarked,

“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built over the past 30 years here in Inverness. Every step of our journey has been driven by a commitment to quality and our local community. Our longstanding partnerships—from sponsoring local sports teams to supporting vital charities—are at the heart of our success. As we celebrate this milestone, I’m excited to continue our development, ensuring that Norscot remains a trusted supplier for the people of Inverness and beyond for many years to come.”
Norscot, a prominent manufacturer of timber frame kit homes, windows, and doors, has established itself as a key player in the Highland construction industry since 1984.
