Meet the Norscot Team at The Homebuilding and Renovating Show  | Edinburgh | 3rd & 4th October 2025

As we gear up for the Homebuilding & Renovating Show in Edinburgh this weekend (4th & 5th October), we sat down for a quick Q&A session with Jason and Carla from the Norscot team.

Together, they bring a wealth of experience to the company. Carla says what excites her most about her role is the collaborative spirit:

“Norscot is always looking to improve and offer better products and services through innovation, which is what I love about working here.”

Q: How can attendees benefit from visiting our stand at the show?

Visiting our stand offers a unique opportunity to explore the journey of designing and building your own home with expert guidance. Carla emphasises the inspiration and support available, highlighting how their 40+ years of experience can help you navigate every stage — from initial ideas to getting your timber frame kit on site. She finds it especially rewarding to help people create sustainable, comfortable homes that reflect their lifestyles. Jason complements this by focusing on the practical side of the process, offering insights into overcoming challenges, saving costs, and designing energy-efficient homes. He underscores the importance of precision and feasibility, ensuring every detail — from materials to supplier coordination — aligns with the customer’s goals and budget before moving forward. Together, they provide a comprehensive and inspiring look at what it takes to turn your dream home into reality.

Q: What makes our products and services unique compared to other exhibitors at the show?

What sets the team apart is their hands-on, locally rooted approach to self-build homes. Carla highlights their in-house manufacturing of timber frame kits, windows, and doors in Caithness, which ensures full control over quality and consistently high standards. With her background in industrial design, she’s always looking for ways to innovate — whether through better materials, streamlined processes, or enhanced energy efficiency — all to make things easier and better for customers. Jason adds that their specialisation in the self- and custom-build market is driven by a passion for helping people build their own homes efficiently. His focus is on meticulous planning and pricing, using detailed material take-offs and supplier coordination to deliver cost-effective, high-quality results. Together, they offer tailored solutions that meet each client’s unique needs while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability and precision.

Q: What makes our products and services unique compared to other exhibitors at the show?

Carla: At Norscot, we genuinely care about the people behind every project. Great customer service isn’t just about getting the details right — it’s about being there when customers need advice or reassurance. From that very first conversation to the moment their kit is delivered, our team is always just a phone call away. Collaboration is a big part of how we work, and I think that’s what keeps us moving forward — constantly learning, improving, and helping our customers turn their dream homes into reality.

Jason: Our dedicated team go above and beyond to ensure clients have everything they need to successfully build their dream homes. We’re involved from the very start — helping clients understand feasibility, budgets, and timelines — and we stay in touch throughout the build. That ongoing support and communication are what our customers appreciate most, and it’s reflected in the great feedback we continue to receive.

Q: Can you share success stories or positive feedback from past customers who have worked with us on their self-build projects?

Absolutely. One success story comes from Julia and Alan Marsh, who worked with Norscot on their bespoke self-build holiday cabin in Wester Alligin, Ross-shire.

In 2024, they built a 60.5m² cabin to diversify their croft income. After struggling to find a kit manufacturer willing to accommodate their custom design, Norscot stood out by providing a detailed quote, producing accurate drawings, and supporting their building warrant application.

With its large glazed frontage overlooking the loch and mountains, the cabin now serves as a peaceful holiday retreat. Julia and Alan described Norscot as:

“Helpful, informative, and professional… The kit was delivered on time and fitted together perfectly.”
