The Norscot Story: 1990s

In 1990, we launched the original Caithness Cottage, a versatile timber frame house perfect for holidays, retirement, or starting a new home. The same year saw us kick off our sliding mirror doors and internal door sets manufacturing.

Fast forward to ’91, we rolled out a full range of timber frame kit house designs. By ’92, our first showroom opened on Canal Road, Inverness, just after the May UK general election. Callum Grant joined as Commercial Director, and we acquired 2 acres for future expansion in Bower.

In ’93, we bought a new lorry for delivering goods and started manufacturing ‘steelwood’ composite doors. The following year, Phase 2 of our Bower Workshops redevelopment added 12,500 sq ft of factory space, and we began producing window blinds.

Our Inverness showroom moved to Carse Industrial Estate in ’95. By ’96, we secured ISO 9000 Accreditation, and in ’98, we achieved Investors in People accreditation and started manufacturing the Alarbond timber-clad aluminium window system.
