Meet Team Norscot: Iain Sutherland, Sales Manager

At Norscot, we take pride in our dedicated and experienced team, with each member contributing unique skills and passion to their roles.  Today, we’re reintroducing a familiar face to our Inverness customers: Sales Manager Iain Sutherland.

Iain has been integral to Norscot’s success for over three decades. As Sales Manager focused on supply and installation, his 31-year journey with the company has made him an invaluable asset.

Raised in the Scottish Highlands, Iain experienced life in various regions including Badenoch, Ardnamurchan, and Ullapool. After completing his education at Dingwall Academy, he pursued a Carpentry & Joinery apprenticeship in Caithness.

A Warm Welcome to Norscot

Iain’s Norscot career began unexpectedly. “I was sweeping snow off roofs in Aviemore in February,” he recalls. “I thought it would be warmer with Norscot.” This light-hearted decision led to a long, fulfilling career.

A Typical Day in the Office

A typical day starts by checking leads and enquiries, setting up appointments with potential clients, and preparing price quotes for various projects. Following up on these quotes is also a crucial part of his daily routine, ensuring that no opportunity slips through the cracks.

The Rewarding Aspect of Sales

For Iain, the most rewarding aspect of his work is simple: “Having happy customers – that’s rewarding enough.” This customer-focused approach has contributed to his long-standing success.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Home Improvement

Iain foresees an increasingly competitive landscape, suggesting that companies may need to diversify their offerings to stay ahead of the competition.

Outside of Work

Recently retired, Iain served as a Special Constable with Police Scotland for 37 years, specialising in CCTV operations. His extensive work experience spans the Highlands and Islands, including Orkney, Shetland, and the Western Isles.

An avid fan of the TV show “Shetland,” Iain’s favourite place remains the Highlands, where he feels the spectacular views negate the need to travel elsewhere.

If he could have any superpower, Iain says ā€˜Iā€™d choose hypnotism, partly because of its potential to boost sales, but also because it would be an intriguing ability to possess.ā€

Iain’s journey with Norscot is a testament to the company’s ability to retain talent and foster long-term relationships with its employees. Stay tuned to meet more members of our team who make Norscot a trusted name in the home improvement and self-build industries.
