As we gear up for the Homebuilding and Renovating Show in Glasgow on May 10th and 11th, we sat down for a quick Q&A session with Graeme and Linda, who will be representing Team Norscot at the event.
Together, they’ve been part of the Norscot team for over 20 years. Linda says what she enjoys most about her role is meeting clients to discuss their projects—and then seeing those projects come to life. Meanwhile, Graeme appreciates the variety of self-build designs he encounters and the opportunity to offer cost-effective solutions.
Having attended the show in previous years, Linda is looking forward to returning, meeting new people, and introducing them to what Norscot has to offer. Graeme is equally excited to connect with attendees at the start of their self-build journey and share Norscot’s knowledge and experience.

Q: How can attendees benefit from visiting our stand at the show?

Both Linda and Graeme highlight a key benefit: the chance to tap into over 40 years of Norscot’s house-building experience. By visiting our stand, attendees can gain a comprehensive understanding of the timber frame kit process—from initial design to final order—and learn more about our expert Kit Team and our Planning and Building Warrant Service.
Q: What makes our products and services unique compared to other exhibitors at the show?
Both Linda and Graeme emphasise our fully in-house approach as a major differentiator, offering seamless integration and quality control.
Linda:
“What sets us apart is our commitment to quality and control over the production process. We take great pride in manufacturing our timber frame kits, windows, and doors in-house at our workshops in Caithness. This not only allows us to maintain stringent quality standards but also helps us keep costs competitive. In addition, our in-house design team and Architectural Technician streamline the planning and building warrant process, offering our clients a straightforward, efficient service.”
Graeme:
“From sales to architectural design to manufacturing the kit, windows, and doors—everything is handled in-house by the same team.”

Q: Can you share success stories or positive feedback from past customers who have worked with us on their self-build projects?

Absolutely. One success story comes from Julia and Alan Marsh, who worked with Norscot on their bespoke self-build holiday cabin in Wester Alligin, Ross-shire.
In 2024, they built a 60.5m² cabin to diversify their croft income. After struggling to find a kit manufacturer willing to accommodate their custom design, Norscot stood out by providing a detailed quote, producing accurate drawings, and supporting their building warrant application.
With its large glazed frontage overlooking the loch and mountains, the cabin now serves as a peaceful holiday retreat. Julia and Alan described Norscot as:
“Helpful, informative, and professional… The kit was delivered on time and fitted together perfectly.”

At Norscot, we take great pride in turning our clients’ dreams into beautiful homes. Mr and Mrs Marsh’s journey is a testament to our dedication and expertise in the self-build industry.
