Our SMDH Demonstrator project seeks to optimise Norscot’s manufacturing processes by leveraging a multimodal AI framework that combines temporal and spatial data. This approach will provide a deeper understanding of the processes to optimise material usage and reduce waste.
We aim to:
- Automate and implement smart inventory management
- Use data-driven multimodal AI to reduce waste
- Quantify the environmental benefits of the optimised system with an LCA approach
Initial Achievements:
- Data Preparation/Collection
- Collection and analysis of existing temporal data
- Collection of spatial data (Lidar, images)
- Data cleansing and setup of the preprocessing pipleline
- Baseline Data upload to MDEP
- System architecture design (MVP)
- Database Design and Data Ingestion
- Our Project Poster was exhibited at the Caithness Circular Economy Fair in Thurso on September
We look forward to the next stages of the project, which include developing and testing the actual model and disseminating our learnings on different platforms.
This type of solution can be replicated in other manufacturing settings, especially in an SME environment, so feel free to reach out if you’d like to know more!
