Meet Team Norscot: Ben Brodell, QA/H&S Administrator

In this edition of Meet the Team, we are delighted to introduce Ben Brodell, our dedicated QA/H&S Administrator. Ben has been part of Team Norscot for nearly two years, and his work focuses on keeping our standards high and our team safe.

Born in Derby and raised in Nottingham, Ben grew up in the town of Sandiacre, alongside his two brothers and two sisters. His family later moved to Caithness when he was 17, and he also spent a year living in Spain during his twenties.

A Day in the Office

His primary responsibilities revolve around maintaining Norscot’s Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015) and other accreditations. He also oversees the company’s health and safety arrangements, ensuring compliance with all applicable acts and regulations.

A typical day, he says, “involves a mix of desk-based quality assurance work and monitoring the company’s adherence to its Health and Safety Policy.”

Ensuring Colleagues Go Home Safe

Reflecting on his role, Ben says the most rewarding part of his job is raising awareness of workplace risks, making sure every employee returns home safely at the end of the day.

Excitement for the Future

Looking ahead, Ben is excited about completing his NEBOSH certificates, which will enable him to provide even better advice to his colleagues.

He believes that as the construction and home improvement industries evolve, customers will increasingly seek more choices, driving innovation in the sector.

Beyond the Office

When he’s not working, Ben enjoys a wide range of hobbies, including supporting Nottingham Forest, playing video games, and listening to metal music. He also loves spending time with his partner Charlotte, their dog Holly (affectionately known as “the Rat”), and his family.

A Surprising Twist

Interestingly, Ben harbours a fascination with the paranormal—a passion that dates back to his childhood dream of becoming a paranormal investigator. This interest has led him to memorable experiences, such as visiting Mary King’s Close in Edinburgh, a location featured in many of the paranormal books he read in his youth.

Stay tuned to meet more members of our team who make Norscot a trusted name in the home improvement and self-build industries.
