Team Norscot Steps Up for Maggie’s Highland: Reaching New Heights Together

Team Norscot recently wrapped up an inspiring walking challenge for their Charity of the Year, Maggie’s Highland. What started as a virtual attempt to walk 110 miles—the distance between the Inverness and Bower branches—soon turned into a full team effort marked by determination and a bit of friendly competition. Over May and June, staff didn’t just meet their goal; they soared past it, collectively walking 844.14 miles—over seven times the original target.

Through their combined efforts, the team raised a fantastic £310 to support people affected by cancer across the Highlands. Special recognition goes to Carla, who was the top fundraiser, contributing £170 of the total.

To keep spirits high, several team members also took on the challenge of climbing Ben Braggie, a well-known hill near Golspie. Not only did this climb add to their mileage, but it also brought the team together for some spectacular views and plenty of laughs.

The top individual walkers were:

  • Sharmina: 212.70 miles
  • Chris: 175.80 miles
  • Carla: 147.40 miles

Sharmina led from the start, keeping everyone on their toes and motivating teammates to keep moving and have fun along the way.

Inspired by the success and team spirit of the Ben Braggie walk, Team Norscot isn’t stopping here. Plans are now in place for bi-monthly team walks, with the group aiming to tackle other local hills and forests together. It’s not just about steps, but about keeping the momentum going, enjoying the Highlands’ natural beauty, and nurturing the sense of togetherness that made this challenge so memorable.

Team Leader Eleanor Hargrave summed up the experience:
“I am incredibly proud of the team. Everyone got involved and pushed themselves for a great cause. It’s been inspiring to see such dedication and community spirit come together in support of Maggie’s.”

Thank you to all who participated, donated, and cheered on the team. With more walks and challenges ahead, Team Norscot is eager to keep making a positive difference—one step at a time.
